Christmas at AGS
This Christmas the Jr. High Student Council decided to have a friendly contest between grade levels for Christmas decorating. Each hallway got a theme based on a popular Christmas movie. The Pre-k to Kindergarten hallway had Rudolph.
The 1st to 3rd Grade hallway had Frosty the Snowman.
The 4th and 5th Grade had The Grinch.
The Jr. High had Polar Express.
Thanks to everyone who participated. The hallways look great! Merry Christmas!
8th Grade Girls Basketball
Last week the 8th Grade girls finished their basketball season. Hard work and dedication paid off for them this season. The Knights finished with a 19-2 record.

Danish Visitors
Before Thanksgiving break the students got to meet one of our former Exchange Students from Denmark. Marianne Toft Spiel and I have been friends since our senior year in high school and she came back with her daughter for a visit and to spend Thanksgiving with my family. She brought all my students a surprise, Danish licorice. I had the pleasure of tasting this long ago and was so glad she brought some with her. The general consensus was that it tasted like sweaty socks: ) Thanks for the treat Marianne!

8th Grade Knights Basketball
This Thursday I had a volleyball free evening and decided to go watch my 8th Grade students play some basketball. They are a great group of girls that my husband coached in 5th and 6th Grade. I am so glad I went to watch these girls play. LSA didn't stand a chance against them. They are now 10-0. What an accomplishment! These girls are great in the classroom and on the court. I hope I can make a few more games before the season is over. Go Knights!
Narrative Story Fun
The past few weeks my 8th Grade students have been working hard on narrative stories. They all did a great job of thinking about what makes a good story! We invited K-2 classes to come and listen as we presented them. I think everyone had a great time!

Homecoming
Friday, Sept. 28th was Homecoming for the ALAH School District. The seniors involved in fall extra curricular activities came and spoke to the grade school students about school spirit and being involved when they get to high school. This years senior class is very special to me. I was able to teach most of these students for 3 years from 7th to 9th Grade. They are a very talented group of students. To say I am a proud teacher is an understatement. I look forward to watching them in their year of "lasts." They are off to a wonderful start of a very memorable year. Thanks for coming to the grade school seniors! Mrs. V is proud of you.
